Duties: |
In this position, you will perform a variety of duties varying in degree of complexity and responsibility, including: typing a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, statements, documents, forms and related materials; taking minutes of meetings in accordance with standard practice; maintaining the department’s electronic filing system; coordinating department website updates; and creatively and effectively producing professional documents, including reports, public engagement materials and presentations. You will answer incoming telephone calls, referring inquiries, complaints, etc., to the appropriate office for action, and provide a variety of technical and general information and assistance to the public over the telephone or at the reception counter. With your knowledge of the functions, methods, rules, procedures, bylaws, regulations and policies pertaining to the Development and Regulatory Enforcement Services Department, you will be expected to respond to enquiries including:
• Application processes and submission requirements
• Basic Subdivision and Development Permit procedures
• General City development and bylaw enforcement policies and related bylaws
The successful candidate must have completed Grade 12 in a commercial program, supplemented by formal courses in the secretarial field. Previous experience with desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (including InDesign, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel) is preferred. Experience working in an administrative, secretarial, or clerical role in local government would be an asset for the successful candidate. |
