GIS Business Solutions Technologist Municipality: City of Abbotsford This posting closed on November 12, 2024 at 5:00 PM Job ID: J0823-1496 (Please quote job ID on resume when applying) Department: Information Technology Job Description: The City of Abbotsford's IT Department is seeking a GIS professional who is a self-motivated individual with proven skills and experience working in a fast-paced environment to join our GIS team as the GIS Business Solutions Technologist. Reporting to the GIS Business Solutions Coordinator, this exciting role will address daily service requests and provide project support related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS business solutions using various software applications (e.g., ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) for internal, external, and mobile users. Key Responsibilities Include: • Maintain and evolve the City’s spatial and non-spatial data using best practices and appropriate software. • Develop and maintain supporting documentation to ensure a high level of customer service. • Provide administrative support for projects, City-wide initiatives, or events. • Create maps and visualizations to effectively communicate spatial information for planning, decision-making, and research. • Participate in project teams and cross-functional groups to deliver new and ongoing initiatives and products. • Support business activities in the creation, collection, and management of data, information, and analytics using various software applications and tools. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date process, procedural, or how-to documentation, adhering to document management best practices as outlined in data governance methodology and procedures. • Provide technical support and training to enterprise GIS users. Educational Requirements: To be considered for this position, you must have: • Diploma in Technology Management, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science or a related discipline combined with an Advanced Diploma in GIS; • One-year experience working with GIS and the development of cartographic, analytic and data collection solutions, using web services and applications, as well as developing user requirements and/or spatial information management standards; • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Salary: This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $35.30 to $41.53 per hour plus we offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits package.
