Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Labourer (from approx. January 27, 2025 to December 19, 2025) to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Infrastructure Assets Department. Reporting to the Infrastructure Assets Manager, in this unionized position you will perform a variety of manual work in support of municipal cemeteries’ operations and maintenance. This position requires physical effort and agility to perform semi-skilled and unskilled construction/maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities
• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in cemeteries’ operations, maintenance and construction
• Perform maintenance and construction including, landscaping, setting grave markers, passive areas, cemetery furniture and fences
• Drive a vehicle to transport materials and tools to job sites
Perform related work as required

Qualifications
• Completion of Grade 12 with some experience in construction and maintenance or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Sound knowledge of the methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in general park construction and maintenance work
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and simple written instructions
• Skill in the use of a variety of tools used in general maintenance and construction work
• Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform heavy manual work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Valid BC Class 3 Driver’s License with Airbrake Endorsement or BC Class 5 Driver’s License with Heavy Trailer Endorsement (Code 20) is considered an asset

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
• Valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) Driver’s License or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5-year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date.
