Job Description: The City of Abbotsford’s Roads & Facilities Operations division is seeking a self-motivated, hard-working individual to join their dynamic team as a full-time Utility Person (Roads).

In this challenging position you will participate in the repair, maintenance and construction of City roads, sidewalks, intersections and bicycle paths as well as inspect, service, maintain, and perform repairs on our roads’ infrastructure.

Your ability to maintain a clean, safe work area, compliance with safety regulations, and the ability to exercise independent judgement in quickly and accurately performing your duties will make you a key member of the team.

You will assist in and provide direction to others engaged in the day to day general maintenance and construction of roads, curbs and sidewalks. Your thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the infrastructure and repair of roads and drainage systems will guide your success in this position.

Educational Requirements: In order to be considered for this position, you must have:

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Two (2) years’ experience in road construction or maintenance.
• Valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence.

Salary: This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $27.82 to $32.75.
