Job Description: |
The City of Abbotsford’s Operations department is seeking an experienced tradesperson to join their dynamic team as a full time Trades I Technician – Small Equipment. As an integral member of the Fleet Services team, the Trades I Technician – Small Equipment is responsible for establishing and carrying out duties for the servicing and repair of various small engines and related equipment. In addition, the incumbent maintains accurate records and inventories, and provides input on small equipment replacement strategies.
Working knowledge of the principles and standard practices of small equipment repair and maintenance is essential to this position as you prepare estimates of labour and materials, and determine the method of installation or repair upon receiving an assignment. The ability to work with users in diagnosing equipment problems as well as the ability to give instructions on operating procedures of various pieces of small equipment is integral. You will be knowledgeable in proper safety practices and must demonstrate the ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others.
Your technical experience and knowledge, along with your time management and organization skills will make you an asset to the team.

Educational Requirements: |
As the ideal candidate you have:
• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
• Completion of a certificate in a related discipline from a post-secondary institution or Trades School
• Minimum of three (3) years’ practical experience in mechanics, particularly related to small engines
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Salary: |
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $31.18 to $36.70 per hour. |
