Reporting to the Director, Utility Operations, this position provides strategic leadership, direction, and management to a group of operations professionals responsible for wastewater collection and urban drainage systems. The successful applicant will be an experienced and knowledgeable professional who can inform strategy, while being sensitive to everyday operations. You will be responsible for management and operation of the division. This includes planning, developing, coordinating and implementing maintenance and construction programs for City storm and sanitary and urban storm sewer infrastructure, and the supervision and direction of work of union staff and private contractors. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and proven leader with a reputation for being an experienced manager who can lead, motivate and engage a diverse team of professionals and coach and mentor for future succession. They will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing them to build credible and trusted relationships with their team, contractors, and throughout the City, along with providing expert advice, support, and guidance to their team, external committees, and residents. Educational Requirements: As the ideal candidate you will have: • Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Technology or equivalent education; • Professional Designation with either Engineers and Geoscientists BC or Applied Science Technologist BC • Five (5) years of related experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience. • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
