Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Truck Driver – Crane Equipment to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Roads Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Roads Operations, in this unionized position you will assist and participate in routine construction and maintenance tasks on job sites when the vehicle is idle. The work is distinguished from that of a Truck Driver III by the complexity and responsibility involved in operating the crane to load and unload materials and equipment. Tasks will be received by a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of efficient and safe operation of the vehicle and attached equipment.

Responsibilities
• Operates trucks up to and including vehicles in excess of 41,000 lbs G.V.W. used in transporting construction and maintenance materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, asphalt, lumber and related items as required
• Operates trucks and attachments to plow snow, salt or sand streets as required
• Operates a tandem axle flat deck truck and operates attached crane equipment used in loading and unloading a variety of materials and equipment
• Operates a variety of small electric, gas or air powered tools and equipment, as required
• Washes, cleans, performs pre-trip inspections and services, and makes minor running repairs on trucks; performs routine servicing and minor maintenance tasks and on equipment operated
• Performs or assists in manual or other work in the Department or Sections to which you are assigned when the vehicle is idle
• Performs related work as required

Qualifications
• Completion of grade 12 and considerable related experience in the operation of large trucks and attached crane equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Thorough knowledge of rules of safe operation and precautions required in the operation of tandem axel vehicles with auxiliary or attached equipment
• Considerable knowledge of truck driving techniques and safe operation of attached crane equipment & operating same in congested traffic conditions and related construction sites
• Sound knowledge of the methods and practices used in adjusting and maintaining the equipment operated
• Sound knowledge of Municipal streets and traffic routes
• Ability to operate tandem axel trucks, attached crane equipment and a variety of small power tools and equipment safely and efficiently and to carry out oral and written instructions
• Ability to assist and participate in work at job sites while truck and attached equipment is idle
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other municipal employees
• Skill in the operation of tandem axel trucks and attached equipment related to the work performed

Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
• Valid BC Class 3 with Air Brake Endorsement Driver’s License. You must include with your application a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5-year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date. Please note that a copy of your Driver’s License and the Drivers Factor Report will not be accepted.

• Afternoon Shift: 12:30pm – 9:00pm
