Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist II to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Engineering Services Department. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services, in this unionized position you will plan, analyze and inspect the construction of municipal stormwater infrastructure, flood control and natural watercourse protection/enhancement projects. You will also prepare, review and coordinate a variety of materials including technical studies, reports and correspondence.
Responsibilities

Perform planning, analysis, estimating, inspection and review functions for municipal drainage systems and natural watercourses

Maintain computer models of drainage systems to account for system changes

Respond to enquiries related to drainage systems and natural watercourses

Participate in initiatives to improve municipal drainage performance and management, and protect natural systems

Prepare, review and maintain a variety of materials such as technical studies and status reports, correspondence, tender and project specifications

Draft reports, contract documents, letters/memos and related correspondence including request for proposals and tenders

Coordinate programs and liaise with a variety of internal/external contacts, consultants, contractors and other agencies on engineering requirements, environmental compliance, policies and related matters

Respond to enquiries/complaints and provide solutions to a variety of situations

Undertake field work to locate, map and/or inspect drainage infrastructure and natural drainage systems

Perform related work as required
Qualifications

Graduation from an institute of technology with a diploma in civil and structural technology, building technology, or related discipline, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus considerable related experience, preferably in a municipal setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Considerable knowledge of engineering principles, practices and techniques used, and experience with a variety of engineering software packages, databases, and stormwater applications

Sound knowledge of budget and standard costing fundamentals for operations projects and programs

Ability to communicate effectively with internal/external contacts, the public, consultants and contractors

Knowledge and experience in hydrologic/hydraulic concepts, and modelling and/or drafting are considered assets
Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.

BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License.
