Job Description: The City of Abbotsford???s Fleet Services division is currently seeking experienced journeyman mechanics with a passion for customer service and teamwork to join our skilled team as Trades II, Technicians. With two exciting opportunities available we are searching for both Heavy Duty and Commercial Transport Mechancis.

In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will perform general mechanical overhaul and maintenance work on a wide variety of Automotive and Heavy Duty equipment such as road sweepers, backhoes, motors, graders, trucks and diesel and gas engines. You will utilize your knowledge of electronic diagnostic equipment for computerized systems to undertake preventative maintenance and inspection and prepare reports of conditon and recommendations.

You will have good knowledge of fuel systems and superior mechanical aptitiute as well as an appreciation for proper safety practices and proceedures. Your strong communication and organization skills along with your ability towork effectively in a fast-paced team environment will make you an asset to the team.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

??? Grade 12 plus a current British Columbia Trades Qualification in Heavy Duty, Automotive or Commercial Transport Mechanic;
??? Minimum of 2 years??? experience in the trade;
??? BC Certificate of Apprenticeship;
??? BC Certificate of Qualification;
??? Valid Class 3 B.C. Drivers Licence with Air Endorsement
??? Valid Certificate for Commercial Vehicle Inspection Permits

This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $30.78 to $36.20.
