Job Description: The Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is looking for a skilled and energetic student to work temporarily for four months collecting and analyzing parks infrastructure data and assisting with capital projects. This job opportunity will commence in May until the end of August 2021.
Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Facilities, you will gain valuable field experience using the District???s Geographic Information System (GIS) and the ArcGIS Collector App to collect park asset infrastructure information for GIS entry. You will also use AutoCAD to review and update technical drawings based on standard parks drawings.
Educational Requirements: You will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office and have working knowledge of GIS principles, methods and software. Drafting, design techniques and knowledge of parks specifications would be an asset.

You must possess a valid Class 5 driver???s license (Class N is acceptable) and you must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and may require long periods of walking.
Skill Requirements: You will have strong organizational and communication skills as you will liaise with consultants, members of the public, contractors, technical and field staff. You will also have the ability to research and analyze information and prepare basic reports.
Salary: The hourly rate for this CUPE Student Employee position is $20.84 per hour plus 12.4% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, other paid leaves, fringe benefits and premiums. The hours of work will be up to seven hours per day, four days per week.
