The City of Abbotsford is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and driven professional to join our team as Senior Manager, Geomatics. This role is a vital member of the Engineering department, and is responsible for utilizing the City???s Geographic Information System (GIS) to help the organization improve the quality, accuracy, efficiency and responsiveness of City services and achieve Council???s vision for the City ??????to be the Hub of the Fraser Valley.???

Reporting to the Director, Project Management Office, the Senior Manager provides leadership, insight and strategic direction to the GIS, survey, and drafting team (Geomatics). As the Senior Manager, the scope of your role includes providing expert knowledge and support, maintaining and advancing the City???s GIS, and managing the day-to-day operations of the team. You will be an integral leader in improving business enablement and a key contributor to developing a digital first, self-service culture for the organization and the public. Your team responds to the information needs of the City through the use of various systems, including the ArcGIS Enterprise platform, RIVA, traditional surveying and drafting methodologies and various request tracking systems.

In this role, you oversee the City???s geomatics team, making recommendations on strategic direction, processes and technology to modernize data, analytics, visualization and City services. Your focus will be on utilizing an enterprise approach that supports the responsiveness of City services by establishing and managing data and workflow governance programs that are optimized for data driven decision making. You contribute to the financial planning process and manage the geomatics division???s annual budget, and are responsible for product procurement, business case development, and researching emerging trends to ensure the realization of the City???s strategic priorities. Your team includes a role as an asset management liaison between the GIS, engineering and finance teams. You are responsible for recruiting and training staff, assigning projects and providing management, supervision and direction to the team.??

You have the ability to motivate, mentor, and coach a diverse team of staff and provide leadership in a fast-paced and technological environment. You are a strategic thinker and problem solver that uses sound judgement, with experience managing multiple priorities concurrently, and a dedication to innovation and continuous improvement. You have strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build credible and trusted relationships with your team, throughout the organization, external organizations and the public.

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

- A degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics, Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline combined with an advanced diploma in GIS.??
- A designation as a Professional Engineer registered with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), or an Applied Science Technologist designation with Applied Science Technologist and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC), or equivalent; and
- A minimum of 10 years solid related experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
