The City of Abbotsford is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our dynamic team as the full-time Arboriculture Coordinator in the Park Operations division.

Reporting to the Urban Forester, you will plan, allocate, review, coordinate and participate in arboriculture work for both internal and external contracts. As the Arboriculture Coordinator you will bring your expertise in species selection, planting, pruning, maintenance and removal of a variety of mature coniferous and deciduous trees. As part of this exciting position, you will perform the assessment, reporting and rating of trees for hazard and retention potential, and recommend species/varieties for suitability and required treatment based upon species, size, condition, and trees at risk.

Your extensive knowledge of tree species, growth characteristic, advantages and limitations along with your understanding of Urban Forestry and Arboriculture methodologies will guide your success in this position. Your considerable knowledge of the practices, tools and equipment used in the pruning, trimming and removal of deciduous and coniferous trees along with your ability to prepare estimates, budgets and monitor expenditures for projects and programs within budget allocations will make you an asset to the team.

To be considered for this position you must have:

??? Grade 12 supplemented with a two-year diploma in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Plant Services, Horticulture or related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution;
??? Minimum of three years??? work experience in the management of specimen trees, including supervisory experience;
??? Class 5 BC Drivers??? Licence;
??? Pesticide Applicator???s License for the Province of British Columbia;
??? International Society of Arboriculture Certification (ISA);
??? ISA Tree Risk Assessor Qualified (TRAQ)
*An equivalent combination of education and experience, such as a Trade Qualification in a parks-related discipline and relevant municipal experience may be considered.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $32.73 To $38.53.
