Job Description: The District of Mission is looking for a knowledgeable and organized individual to develop, implement and administer various community policing and crime prevention programs. Reporting to the Manager of RCMP Administration, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and coordinating community policing office (CPO) volunteers; ensuring that service delivery for the various programs conforms to program guidelines and objections; liaising with police members and a variety of government and community agencies to coordinate work efforts; and promoting program awareness and sharing information. You will also prepare and maintain required records, statistics, reports and correspondence related to the various programs.
Duties: You will be knowledgeable about program objectives, policies, procedures and crime prevention services available in the community and the types of assistance they provide to the general public. You will have considerable knowledge of community policing and crime prevention philosophies including current programs such as Client, Acquiring and Analyzing, Partners Response Assessment (CAPRA), Crime Free Multi-Housing (CFMH) and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
Educational Requirements: You will have graduated from high school and have some post-secondary education in a related field such as criminal justice supplemented by courses in criminology and crime prevention (preferably police-based), and have at least 2 years of related experience including experience with organizing and coordinating the activities of volunteers. Applicants must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, RCMP enhanced reliability clearance.
Skill Requirements: You will have excellent organizational, interpersonal and delegation skills along with strong communication skills. Experience with program planning, development and management is an asset along with experience in supervising volunteers.
Salary: The 2020 hourly rate of pay is $34.05 plus a comprehensive benefit package including the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP).
Additional Information: The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 p.m., on a 9-day fortnight schedule (extended hours for 9 days and 1 day off every two weeks). Some evening and weekend work may be required.
