We are recruiting for a regular full time Deputy Fire Chief to assist in leading our team of professionals in the Township???s Fire Department.

Reporting directly to the Fire Chief this senior leadership role include the responsibility for the administrative and operational functions of the Department, assisting in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing all fire suppression, related emergency services, fire prevention, safety operations and programs for the Township. The Deputy Fire Chief acts for the Fire Chief in the latter???s absence and at times is in complete charge of departmental operations. The Deputy Chief exercises considerable independence of judgment and action in carrying out assignments in accordance with departmental policies, plans and objectives. Thorough knowledge of modern firefighting techniques and the rules, regulations and policies that govern the activities of a Fire Department including Fire Codes and Bylaws is essential.

You have a demonstrated track record in fire services management and incident command including a minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in the Fire Service supplemented with post-secondary education, certificate or diploma level, from a recognized education institution in any one of the following disciplines; civic management, fire executive management, business administration, emergency management, human resources management, Fire Officer Level 4, and/or an equivalent combination of practical and demonstrated experience.

You must also have the following valid and current certifications and licenses in order to be considered for this exciting role. You must provide proof of the following with your application. Please have these ready to upload when you apply:

1. Fire Officer Level 2, and Level 3 Certificate (Pro Board or IFSAC accredited).

2. Incident Safety Officer (Pro Board or IFSAC accredited).

3. Incident Command Level 300 (Pro Board or IFSAC accredited).

4. Local Assistant to the Fire Commissioner.

5. Driver???s license for the Province of British Columbia with Class 3 Air.
