The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a Parks Infrastructure and Cemetery Superintendent to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Parks Operations Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, in this exempt position you will provide support and assistance in all aspects of management of parks infrastructure and cemeteries including Township cemeteries, facilities, sport structures, playgrounds, maintenance and minor capital projects specific to parks infrastructure and cemeteries. You will make recommendations to the Manager on operational and work plans, financial control/adjustment, human resources matters and may act for the Manager as required. This position will assess the work of others for compliance of municipal and agency standards and liaise with the public, developers, consultants, contractors. The successful applicant will be a dynamic and skilled professional, able to manage the diverse functions of parks operations, cemeteries and associated works.

Your qualifications will include strong knowledge of park and cemetery principles, terminology, materials, equipment, practices utilized and knowledge of applicable Municipal regulations, policies and bylaws.
You will have knowledge of applicable Provincial Cemetery Act and Regulations and of the functions and operations of building systems including HVAC, plumbing and electrical equipment services. You bring proven experience in project management principles and the skill and knowledge to supervise unionized staff. Sound knowledge in asset management principles for condition assessment, developing work program, and understanding of full life cycle costing is essential. Proficiency in use of computers, effective communication orally and in writing, and the ability to select, train, and supervise the work of subordinate staff is necessary. You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a municipal parks environment or an organization providing parks and cemetery management and maintenance services and a Bachelors Degree or Diploma and Trades Qualifications in a related discipline (i.e. park and cemetery management, facility management and project or contract management).

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

In order to be considered for this position, you must have a BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside.
