Job Description: The Manager of Communications and Public Engagement will raise citizen and business awareness and understanding of municipal initiatives, programs and operations, and develop and promote opportunities for public engagement and feedback, by developing, coordinating and implementing civic engagement strategies based on the District???s vision and strategic direction. This position will also oversee the District???s brand and related marketing materials, serve as a key liaison on internal and external communications and public relations matters, and manage specific corporate projects.
Duties: The District of Mission prides itself on its cultural diversity and, as such, is looking for a Manager of Communications and Public Engagement to work to engage all segments of the community including visible minority groups. The Manager of Communications and Public Engagement will play a key role in the District???s desire to further develop relationships with First Nations that are mutually beneficial.
Educational Requirements: You will have your degree in public or business administration, communications or a related field, along with a minimum of five years??? related and management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You will have sound knowledge of municipal government and budgetary control. Strong computer skills are also required.
Skill Requirements: The successful candidate must have the skills to develop strategic plans for communications and public engagement. Excellent interpersonal skills will be critical for leading and managing public engagement projects and for leading internal and external stakeholder meetings. An eye for style and for detail, along with strong communication skills, will help with overseeing the printed and electronic messaging, and for overseeing the promotion of District media events.
The ideal candidate will have experience with building partnerships, consulting and engaging with all segments of the community including First Nations and visible minority groups.
Salary: This excluded position offers a wage rate commensurate with your qualifications and experience along with a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan, a 9-day fortnight work schedule and the opportunity to work with an excellent team.
