The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Recreation Centre Supervisor to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division, Recreation Programs and Services Department.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, in this unionized position you will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative duties related to the operation and maintenance of one or more large multi-purpose facilities including preparation of budget estimates, monitoring revenues and expenditures, and input to capital renewal replacement plans. You will direct the development, implementation, administration and evaluation of a wide variety of recreation programs and leisure service activities for adults, senior citizens, youth, children and families at one or more large recreation facilities. You will oversee the development and implementation of maintenance and custodial schedules to ensure the proper functioning of all mechanical equipment and maintenance of established hygiene and safety standards. This position will provide liaison, advisory, and resource services for the division and for a variety of external agencies and community groups for the coordination and provision of recreational programs and services in the community. The successful candidate will develop and coordinate community partnerships to accomplish division objectives and monitor the performance of contract workers to ensure conformance to contract specifications. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proven good decision making skills is required.

Your education will include University graduation in recreation or another discipline related to the work plus sound related supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have thorough knowledge of the recreation program and leisure service activity needs of all age groups in the community area served and considerable knowledge of the community recreation program principles, practices and objectives. You must have considerable knowledge of the services provided by various community organizations, government agencies, businesses and internal staff, including knowledge of the procedures, regulations and practices applied in the operation of one or more large multi-purpose recreation facilities. The successful candidate must possess the ability to plan, assign, supervise, review the work of subordinate employees, and interview/recommend the hire of employees. Having experience supervising staff at a large multi-purpose recreation centre with both ice and pool operations including food and beverage services is preferred. Sound knowledge of both pool and arena operations and certifications in National Lifeguard Pool and Waterpark, National Lifeguard Instructor, Pool Operators 1 and 2, or Ice Facility Operator certificates, Serving It Right and FoodSafe certification will all be considered an asset.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $36.45 - $43.04 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are 80 hours in a 2 week period including evenings and weekends; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
