Job Description: This position will assist the Officer in Charge Serious Crime Unit and Crime Reduction Unit, to achieve an efficient operation within the Section through reliable performance in clerical duties, typing, and receptionist duties and ensure safety and security of confidential and sensitive matters pertaining to the Section's operation.
Duties: The incumbent in this class will perform a variety of clerical duties varying in degrees of complexity, responsibility and sensitivity requiring a high degree of sound and independent judgement. The incumbent will provide highly confidential clerical services to the Serious Crime and Crime Reduction Units of the RCMP. Responsibilities will also include uploading human source information and operational plans, coordinating office support services, providing information and assistance to external and internal departments as well as performing duties as assigned. The incumbent will be required to transcribe statements that carry a higher level of confidentiality and may contain graphic and sensitive material. The incumbent will assist in charting serious crime information and to disseminate as directed. The incumbent will be required to research and track Prolific offenders creating reports for dissemination. The incumbent will assist in media release reports on Most Wanted and Missing persons; track and disseminate Court information on Court dispositions. The incumbent will order the appropriate office supplies and equipment required for specific duties in the Undercover Officer Units. Assignments and responsibilities in this position are regularly performed with minimal, if any supervision.
Educational Requirements: Must have completed Grade 12 in a commercial program, supplemented by formal courses in the secretarial field.
Skill Requirements: -Considerable knowledge of the functions, methods, rules, RCMP and City of Chilliwack policies and procedures, and regulations/policies of various levels of Government as they apply to the Department and RCMP functions;

-Sound knowledge of Criminal Code of Canada (C.C.C.) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A);

-Sound knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation, knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.

-Able to perform variety of clerical and secretarial assignments without supervision;

-Five years of experience working in a Police environment which will include Front Counter and Records;

-Able to maintain the safe code and restricted access to the Human Source and Private files located in both the Serious Crime Unit and Crime Reduction Unit;

-Able to operate and process data using the RCMP computer programs: Canadian Police Information Centre (C.P.I.C.), Police Records Information Management Environment (P.R.I.M.E.), National Criminal Data Bank (N.C.D.B.), Integrated Information Service (I.I.S.), Computerized Arrest & Booking System (C.A.B.S.) and Justice Information (JUSTIN);

-Able to keep all information in confidence in compliance with the Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act;

-Able to transcribe highly confidential internal/external audios, that may contain graphic and sensitive material in a timely manner;

-Able to process a variety of confidential material with discretion and integrity and maintain confidentiality from other members of the staff and RCMP Members not directly involved in the investigation;

-Able to be polite, courteous and tactful in dealing with the public and be neat in appearance;

-Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department officials, department heads and other members of the staff and external agencies;

-Able to process a variety of calls and enquiries authoritatively and arrange appointments/meetings
as required.

-Able to qualify for and maintain the required security clearance for the position.
Salary: $25.99- $30.58 per hour (2019)
