The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Property Negotiator, to join our team of professionals in the Corporate Administration Division, Property Services Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Property Services, in this unionized position you will be responsible for inspecting and evaluating real property for the purpose of acquisition, expropriation, exchange, sale, lease and/or rental. You will assist with the coordination of land development projects and liaise with Township and external authorities on same. You will negotiate with property owners, real estate agents, consultants, solicitors and/or governmental representatives for the acquisition of real property, rights of way, restrictive covenants, easements, dedications and fee simple interests required by the Township for municipal purposes and negotiate with prospective purchasers or their representatives on the sale or redevelopment of municipal property and assist in developing disposal strategies. The position will review appraisal reports, planning studies and other market studies related to the acquisition or disposal of property and review interim and other legal agreements pertaining to the acquisition or disposal of property to ensure completeness, accuracy and protection of municipal interests.

Your education will include completion of the 12th school grade and completion of a recognized real estate, appraisal or property management program leading to an AACI (Appraisal Institute of Canada) designation or an RI designation (Real Estate Institute of BC). A minimum of three years property negotiation experience and/or two to four years of experience in other areas of property management/real estate appraisal is required. You will also have considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used in appraisal techniques of real property and knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used in property acquisition and disposal through negotiation. You will have considerable knowledge of the applicable legal requirements governing the various types of property acquisition, usage and disposal transactions.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $39.56 - $46.75 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are 8 consecutive hours per day Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am ??? 6:00pm; Non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
