The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Facility Service Worker to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division; Recreation Programs and Services Department.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, in this unionized position you will be responsible for planning, assigning, scheduling, checking and participating in the work of a group of subordinates engaged in activities such as facility and equipment maintenance, refrigeration and ice-making tasks, pool maintenance, and janitorial work. You will train new employees and participate in hiring new staff. You will establish and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment, perform a variety of operational maintenance and routine repair duties relative to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, ice-making and related support systems, check system component operation, lubricate and clean equipment, and make necessary repairs and adjustments to a variety of equipment. You will perform a variety of minor plumbing, painting and carpentry work and coordinate minor repair and maintenance projects with contractors and tradespersons. You will prepare budget estimates, administer budget, and monitor expenditures as required. The successful candidate will prepare and maintain a variety of records related to the work and enforce the rules and regulations governing facility operations, including providing assistance to the public and user groups.

Your education will include completion of technical courses related to the work such as pool operation, refrigeration and ice-making, and supervisory training, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and procedures used in ice-making and refrigeration operations, as well as knowledge of the functions and operational principles and procedures pertaining to water heating, filtration, chlorination, ozone and ionizing systems, materials and tools used in the operation and maintenance of swimming pools and related stationary equipment. It will be necessary to have sound knowledge of the functions and operations of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, and related systems. Chlorine Handling Certificate and WHMIS will be considered an asset.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $29.16 - $34.29 per hour (5 steps 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
