Recreation Leader (Auxiliary) Municipality: District of Mission This posting closed on June 3, 2019 at 4:30 PM Job ID: 2019-13 (Please quote job ID on resume when applying) Department: Parks, Recreation & Culture Job Description: Employees in this position are responsible for a variety of tasks related to assisting with program planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation for recreational programs, such as aquatics, children???s programs, youth services and fitness programs. Duties: Employees in this role assist with preparing and monitoring the budget for the relevant program. Recreation Leaders schedule, supervise and coordinate the work of employees, monitor registration in applicable programs, and maintain appropriate records. Excellent customer-service and interpersonal skills are necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships and excellent communication skills are needed to work with internal and external customers. Educational Requirements: The successful candidate will have completed a Certificate program in a related field such as Community Recreation, Child and Youth Care, or an equivalent, and have a minimum of three years??? experience in a fitness or recreation environment. You will need a Level 1 Standard First Aid certificate and CPR certification. Additional relevant certifications are an asset. Skill Requirements: An auxiliary Recreation Leader must be flexible and available to work on short notice with a combination of day, afternoon and evening shifts, and some statutory holidays. The on-call work assignments vary from one day to six weeks (auxiliary employees have no guarantee of regular shifts). Salary: The 2019 hourly rate of pay for a Recreation Leader is $32.44 plus 4.4% in lieu of all benefits.
