The City of Abbotsford currently has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Trails and Natural Areas Coordinator in the Park Services Division of our Parks, Recreation and Culture Department.

As the Trails and Natural Areas Coordinator you will bring considerable knowledge of practices, tools and equipment used in trails and natural areas, urban forestry and arboriculture work. This position involves the field coordination and administration of natural area development and maintenance, including vegetative, fish and wildlife habitat management, hazard tree management, reforestation initiatives and the inspection and care of trails in municipal parks and properties.

Reporting to the Urban Forester, the successful candidate will plan, assign, coordinate, supervise and participate in the work of employees and contractors engaged in trail and tree work. Your knowledge of urban forest methodologies, City Bylaws and regulations, and trail system design, construction and maintenance will be essential as you provide direction, information, and maintain effective working relationships with external and internal contacts.

Qualifications Required:

??? Grade 12 supplemented with a two-year diploma in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Plant Sciences, Natural Resource Management or related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution;
??? Minimum of three years??? work experience including supervisory experience in related field;
??? Trade Qualification in a related discipline may be considered;
??? Class 5 BC Drivers??? Licence;
??? Pesticide Applicator???s License for the Province of British Columbia;
??? International Society of Arboriculture Certification (ISA);
??? ISA Certified Tree Risk Assessor.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $31.19 to $36.68.
