The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist II to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Engineering and Construction Services Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing design, analysis, reviewing construction and maintenance functions for municipal water, sanitary, and drainage systems; conducting field inspections and contract administration, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with contractual terms, Township standards, and other applicable regulations; and processing soil deposit applications. You will prepare drawings using Civil 3D AutoCAD software; and assist with the Township???s Local Area Service and Private Utility Extension program; and act as liaison and coordinator between engineering and/or construction firms and operations; establishing project requirements, preparing project schedules and monitoring budget; chair meetings related to assigned projects; and review plans and working drawings at various stages for conformance to project guidelines and established standards. You will also prepare, review and maintain a variety of materials such as technical studies and status reports, correspondence, tender and project specifications, review tender submissions and recommend contractor award, as well as performing design and layout work for large project components, reviewing all invoices for accuracy.

Your education will include a diploma in civil engineering technology (degree in civil engineering also optional) or related discipline, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus considerable related experience preferably in a Municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, well organized and able to communicate effectively with the community, consultants, contractors and internal clients. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, terminology, practices and techniques; considerable knowledge of bylaws, policies and practices in coordinating Township programs; sound knowledge of engineering mathematics and of municipal engineering plans, specifications, contract documents and data related to the work, as well as sound knowledge of the fundamentals of budgeting and standard costing procedures as related to engineering programs and operations.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $37.97 - $44.83 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
