The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (2 years - from approx. May 6, 2019 to approx. May 7, 2021) Construction Superintendent to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Engineering and Construction Services Department.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you are responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Construction Services group associated works including water, sanitary sewer, storm water system repairs, rehabilitation, operation and maintenance of gravity storm water systems, and construction of capital projects. You will participate in operational and capital planning, financial control and adjustment, and most human resource decisions. You will be accountable to the Construction Manager for performing complex technical work to Municipal standards relating to a variety of construction and operational utility engineering functions.

Your qualifications include the ability to work within established guidelines, policies, and bylaws but also exercise individual judgment to establish department requirements. You have strong knowledge of construction engineering principles, terminology, materials, equipment, practices and techniques. You have strong technical writing skills and computer skills including maintenance management systems, visual presentations, word processing and spreadsheets, and your oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are exceptional. You bring supervisory experience that allows you to work in and foster a team environment, and you have the ability, skill and knowledge to supervise unionized staff. You have a minimum of 3 years related work experience, preferably in a municipal environment along with a diploma in Civil Engineering or related field and eligibility for registration as an AScT in civil engineering in BC is preferred. An experienced professional in a municipal infrastructure construction and maintenance field with equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
