The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 5 auxiliary Corporate Mail Clerks to join our team of professionals in the Corporate Administration Division; Information Technology Department.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Client Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for opening, sorting, and delivery of incoming and outgoing corporate mail, including the review and determination of appropriate distribution, sorting, and preparing mail for delivery to the post office. The successful candidate will pick up and deliver mail, parcels and other material from various sites in the municipality, and deliver boxes and files to storage. You will organize high volume mail outs, ensure time sensitive mailings and legal requirements receive appropriate priority, and operate postage, sorting, inserting and related mailing equipment. The position will perform minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment, contact vendors regarding malfunctioning equipment, and monitor stock levels of mail supplies and requisition as required. This position provides occasional relief for the main switchboard, answers routine enquiries, takes and distributes messages, and performs related work as required.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12, and some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of established procedures for receiving, recording, and delivering mail and other material, and of the practices and procedures used in the operation of a variety of mailing equipment are essential in this role. Working knowledge of postal regulations and rates, and routine clerical methods and procedures, municipal departments and their roles, functions and staff. Ability to operate a computer terminal and skill in the operation of a motor vehicle is necessary.

BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $22.48 - $26.36 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates). The hours of work vary between Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
