Job Description: Surrey???s Park Partnerships team delivers a range of fun and engaging park programs, with a goal of increasing community connections as well as fostering an appreciation of Surrey???s Parks.

We are looking for Park Program Leaders to lead our park programs, such as Park Play, Fun Fridays, and Community Picnics. These free programs and events offer inclusive recreational opportunities to families and foster social connection. The successful candidate must enjoy working outdoors, organizing/putting on events, and being a part of a team.
Duties: The Community Services Assistant 1 ??? Junior Leader will:
o Strive to build connections between families and Surrey???s park spaces.
o Host themed activity sessions and community events throughout parks in Surrey.
o This position requires some physical work and working outside with exposure to all types of weather conditions.
o Lead park-based games and sports-related activities in various parks in Surrey.

The Community Services Assistant 2 ??? Senior Leader will:
o Strive to build connections between families and Surrey???s park spaces.
o Host themed activity sessions and community events throughout parks in Surrey.
o This position requires some physical work and working outside with exposure to all types of weather conditions.
o Lead Park Program Junior Leaders and volunteers.
o Plan and implement park-based games and sports ???related activities in various parks in Surrey.
o Liaise with community partners to supplement existing park activities.
Educational Requirements: The Community Services Assistant 2 ??? Senior Leader will have:
??? Valid Class 5 Driver???s License with a safe driving history.
??? Successful completed Grade 12.
??? Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C and AED certificate (or obtain before start date).
??? High Five and Fundamental Movement Skills (or other Physical Literacy) certification is an asset.
??? One year of relevant experience working in parks or a recreational setting. An equivalent combination of training and experience is acceptable.
??? Demonstrated leadership experience.
??? Previous experience working with children and youth.
??? An enthusiastic, high initiative approach to their work; strong interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; the ability to work independently and in a team setting; and are able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, staff and the public.


The Community Services Assistant 1 ??? Junior Leader will have:
??? Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C and AED certificate (or obtain before start date).
??? Successful completed Grade 12.

??? Some relevant experience in a parks or a recreational setting;
??? Previous experience working with children and youth is an asset.

??? The Community Services Assistant 1 ??? Junior Leader positions are supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. This position is contingent on Federal Government Grant funding. Successful candidates must meet the criteria set forth by the grant program, including:
o Between 15 and 3 years of age at the start of employment.
o Must be current (January-April 2019) full-time student in a recognized post-secondary program.
o Planning to return to full-time studies in Fall of 2019.
