The City of Abbotsford???s Planning & Development Services department is seeking a self-motivated professional to join their dynamic team as a full time Permits Coordinator I. In this challenging role you will be responsible for ensuring applicants submit complete building permit applications, including supporting documents such as Letters of Assurance. Plans are reviewed for general compliance with the British Columbia Building Code and local regulations including the Building, Zoning, Development and Sign by-laws. You will have considerable independence and exercise judgement in setting out submission requirements and in interpreting compliance with codes and by-laws.

Your communication and relationship building skills will assist you in providing information, interpretation and assistance to home owners, contractors and the general public on by-law requirements, related regulations and codes. Knowledge of City Building, Zoning, Sign, Development and other by-laws, the Canadian Farm Building Code and Part 9 of the B.C. Building code, along with your sound knowledge of the preparation and use of Plans and Specifications related to building construction will make you an asset to the team.

To be considered for this position, you must have:
??? Grade 12, supplemented by building technology courses
??? Related experience in building construction and design or a combination of training and experience equivalent to 1 ??? 2 years
??? Eligible for membership in the Building Official???s Association of British Columbia
??? Ability to obtain Level 1 Certification with the Building Officials??? Association of British Columbia within 24 months of appointment
??? Valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers Licence.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $28.15 to $33.11.
