The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Utility Worker - Parks to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Parks Operations Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing repair, alteration, maintenance and minor construction tasks on trails and parks’ buildings, facilities such as field houses, fences, buildings, bleachers, backstops, picnic tables, walkways and curbs. You will perform related rough carpentry, simple painting, plumbing, cement finishing and minor electrical repairs. This position will check playground equipment for damage and ensure safe operation according to established guidelines, erect and dismantle or remove sports and playground equipment and recommend the installation of new equipment or parts, winterize washrooms and fieldhouses, and maintain heating systems, including lubricating furnace motors and fans, and cleaning or replacing filters. The successful candidate will read and implement manufacturers’ maintenance and safety provisions related to playground equipment.
Your education will include completion of Grade 12 and sound experience in parks operations and maintenance tasks or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials and tools used in parks maintenance and operations and the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and maintain records as required.
This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

• BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. To obtain a copy of your Driver’s Abstract, please contact ICBC directly or the driving authority where you reside. Copies or pictures of your driver’s license will not be accepted.
• CPRA – Certified Playground Inspector
The CUPE rate of pay is $29.69 per hour (2018 rates); $30.28 per hour (2019 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.
