SCOPE
City of Surrey???s Community and Recreation Services Division provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and is looking for enthusiastic Early Childhood Educators within our Community Recreation Centres. These positions are best suited to creative, self-motivated individuals who enjoy working with people in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The City of Surrey follows a responsive curriculum and is committed to ensuring that every child in our programs has a positive and safe recreation experience. Excellent customer service, communication, problem solving and organizational skills are required.

ECE staff will be responsible for the design and implementation of programs for Early Years. ECE Programs are both licensed and non-licensed, and are offered in a variety of facilities including recreation centres, schools, community halls and parks.

These positions involve working with parents and caregivers together with their children with the purpose of providing a language rich environment that fosters a creative, enriched, play based learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
???Setting up and maintaining an organized stimulating play environment that encourages the development of self-esteem.
???Creative problem solving and collaboration.
???Social interaction and social responsibility.
???Intercultural understanding.
???Emergent literacy and numeracy.
???Providing parent support, connection with schools, families and sharing community resources.
???Developing activities that are important to the various stages of child development, including, art, literacy, fine/gross motor skills, constructive play, and using observation and documentation to create successful programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
???A valid License To Practice -Early Childhood Educator (ECE).
???Hold an Early Childhood Educator Certificate with preferably 3-5 years related work experience.
???Demonstrated experience working with children in the 0-5 age range and experience working with adults in a supervisory and facilitative role is considered an asset.
???A current First Aid Certificate and CPR C with AED.
???Demonstrates ongoing professional development training related to Early Years best practices and responsive philosophy.
???Infant Toddler and Special Needs Certification is considered an asset.
???Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as is the ability to be culturally sensitive, creative, collaborative, resourceful and knowledgeable of community services in Surrey.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
???This position requires completion of a Police Information Check.
???Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
