The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Intermediate Water Systems Operator to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Utilities Operations Department.
Reporting to the Utilities Operations Manager, in this unionized position, the successful applicant will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, operating, servicing, installing, cleaning and repairing a variety of pumping station equipment such as pumps, mechanical control equipment, gauges, counters, records and related equipment to ensure the effective operation of water pumping stations. You will also be responsible for operating a water treatment plant; maintaining ancillary and water disinfection equipment; inspecting pressure reducing stations; and testing and checking pressure reducing valves and equipment for proper operation; as well as conducting water quality sampling.
Your education will include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work and considerable experience in water systems operation. Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, repair, inspection and operation of a variety pumping and pressure reducing stations and water treatment systems is essential for this role. You also have the ability to inspect operations, and diagnose and correct operations and the ability to operate a water treatment plant and ancillary equipment.

• BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. The CUPE rate of pay is $36.21 per hour (2018 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.
