Job Description: We are the third largest regional district in BC delivering over 100 services to six municipalities and eight electoral areas. Our region covers more than 13,000 km2 stretching from Haztic Prairie to Boston Bar. Duties: We manage thirteen water systems and three sewer systems, with more coming online every day. Our water and sewer systems use a wide range of different technologies from the more established to the newest and most innovative. With such a variety of systems to maintain, we need a Utilities Technician that can do everything ???from soup to nuts??? including: water quality monitoring and testing, equipment maintenance, routine system checks, storm drainage system maintenance, new service installs, meter reading, and hydrant maintenance. If you have a strong mechanical aptitude, a preference for practical field work then this could be the job for you.

Educational Requirements: ??? Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by an accredited post-secondary program in Water and Wastewater Technology or an equivalent combination of education/experience;
??? Small Water Systems certification from the British Columbia Environmental Operators Certification program;
??? Eligibility to maintain certification in the Environmental Operator Certification Program and membership in the B.C. Water and Waste Association;
Skill Requirements: ??? Working knowledge of the Drinking Water Protection Legislation;
??? Ability to quickly acquire an understanding of water systems, sewer systems and SCADA functions and maintenance;
??? Good understanding of computer operations including data logging and instrumentation;
??? Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively handle conflicting priorities;
??? Must possess a valid Driver???s Licence.
Salary: The wage rate for this bargaining unit position is $24.37 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package. Upon successful completion of the required six month probationary period the wage rate will increase to $28.67 per hour.
