The Fraser Valley Regional District manages a wide range of recreational programming, services and facilities in Hope, BC. These include the Almer Carlson Outdoor Pool, the Recreation Centre which features the Dan Sharrers Aquatic Centre, fitness and cardio rooms, and an arena. The Recreation Centre in Hope has over 57,000 visits to public swimming and skating annually.
Our Recreation Centre has been serving the community of Hope and residents of Electoral Area A and B since 1997. Although our programs and services have changed through the years, our commitment to our communities and users remains a top priority. |

| Duties: |
We have an exciting opportunity for positive and engaging individuals to fill the part-time position of Daycare Attendant in Hope, BC. The Daycare Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of children in an after school Licensed Daycare by providing appropriate supervision, and maintaining a safe, healthy and comfortable environment at all times. Duties include planning and conducting recreation activities in a nurturing and stimulating environment for school age children (6 to 12 years old).
The successful candidate will be at least 19 years of age and be a mature, nurturing, and flexible professional who genuinely enjoys working with children and can determine the individual personality and needs of each child and tailor activities to engage them. |

| Educational Requirements: |
??? Completed a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety , or nutrition;
??? Valid First Aid Certificate in Child Care and CPR;
|
|
| Skill Requirements: |
??? Excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively deal with children;
??? A valid Driver???s Licence is preferred.

| Salary: |
The start rate for this part time Union position is $17.11 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits. Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $19.01 per hour plus either 10.6% in lieu of benefits, or if eligible, participation in the benefit program. |

| Additional Information: |
The successful candidate must also pass a Police Security Check, as well as a Criminal Records Check under the Criminal Records Review Act and meet the governing Licensing Officer???s approval to supervise children in a Licensed Daycare.
The Daycare Attendant must be available for shifts from up to four (4) hours to eight (8) hours inclusive of evenings, weekends and some holidays.
