The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for one (from approx. October 22, 2018 to approx. October 21, 2019) temporary full-time Telecommunication Operator III to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - RCMP Division, Telecommunications Section.

Reporting to the Telecommunications Supervisor, the successful candidates will be responsible in this unionized position for overseeing the work performance of communications operators and providing on-the-job training in radio dispatch and operation, PRIME and communication procedures to newly assigned operators and police members. You will monitor the work of Communications Operators to identify training needs, readiness for further training and promotions; participate in the development of work methods and procedures; handle radio dispatch; initiate emergency communication procedures; control deployment of units; and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.

Your education will include completion of grade 12 including or supplemented by standard commercial courses in word-processing, plus considerable experience, preferably in a law enforcement or public safety communications area, including experience as a Telecommunications Operator II, and training in effective presentation and supervision; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the operation of police radio, telephone, PRIME, PoliceCAD, C.P.I.C. and related equipment; of departmental functions and procedures, laws, rules and regulations which govern departmental activities and of technical language, systems and codes used in the department is necessary.

RCMP reliability status is required. (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $31.62 - $37.23 per hour (5 steps; 2018 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are 7:00am ??? 7:00pm; 7:00pm ??? 7:00am; (four days on/four days off; 2 days and 2 nights). Non-standard hours and/or Non-standard work week.
