The City of Abbotsford is currently seeking a full-time Utility Person within the Dyking, Drainage and Irrigation (DDI) Section of the Engineering and Regional Utilities Department.
This is semi-skilled work in the repair, maintenance, operation and construction of the City???s open channel watercourse systems including: drainage pump stations, dykes, rivers, creeks, ditches, and irrigation facilities.
The incumbent would work under the direction of a Supervisor establishing and carrying out watercourse operation, repair, maintenance and construction duties to meet the Master Municipal Construction Document standards and would be required to maintain accurate records and inventories. In addition, the incumbent will be required to operate drainage/irrigation pump stations and irrigation/flood control structures.
As the ideal candidate you will have:
??? Completion of Grade 12;
??? Completion of post-secondary courses from a recognized college, trades school, BCWWA or similar
organization including:
o Introduction to Public Works Operations;
o Municipal Plan Reading;
o Sediment and Erosion Control
??? A minimum of one year of experience with drainage systems preferably open channel drainage;
??? Valid Class 3 BC Driver???s License;
??? Ability to obtain Coast Guard small craft operator???s certificate within six months of appointment.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $23.66 to $27.83 per hour plus a comprehensive, competitive benefits package.
