Job Description: Employees in this position are responsible for maintaining an efficient purchasing and stores operation, performing purchasing functions in compliance with known policies and procedures and for performing administrative duties related to procurement, purchasing and inventory.
Duties: As required, source, procure, store and issue supplies and services appropriate for their intended use and for various municipal clients.

Create and process requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and other documentation checking for accuracy, completeness of information and proper authorization.

Utilize a computerized inventory and purchase order system.

Maintain accounting and other records (computerized and manual) in order to accurately record all transactions to and from the department.

Assist with inventory counts.

Perform administrative duties including electronic and manual records management, filing, written and verbal correspondence, scheduling meetings and appointments and communicating with internal clients.

Obtain bids from suppliers for standard goods and services, check price, quality and quantity, issue purchase orders.

Receive and issue stocked and non-stocked goods; maintain the stores area in a clean and orderly manner; ensuring minimum and maximum stock levels are maintained.

Assemble, pack and arrange for transportation of stored goods.

Operate a fork lift to move, store and distribute various items.

As required, assist with preparing basic competitive bid documents including requests for quotations, requests for proposals, tenders, contracts and RFP???s including analyzing bids and recommending contract awards.

Expedite deliveries and assist with invoice adjustments.

Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with purchasing/stores staff, other organizational units, and suppliers, the public and outside agencies.

Participate in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures.

Perform other duties related to the position.
Educational Requirements: High School graduation or equivalent, plus courses that are equivalent to two of the following Supply Management Training (SMT) modules offered by the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA):

??? SMT Operations Management
??? SMT Transportation

Minimum of one year experience working in a support role in procurement, inventory control and/or storekeeping/warehousing; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers??? License.

Certification to operate a forklift. Training and certification will be provided to the successful candidate.
Skill Requirements: Knowledge of the policies, procedures and regulations governing municipal purchasing and the receiving, shipping, issuance and storage of goods.

Knowledge of market conditions, price trends and business conditions affecting the work.

Knowledge of accounting procedures related to storekeeping and purchasing.

Knowledge of the requirements and functions of the municipal clients served.

Analytical and mathematical skills.

Strong, demonstrable skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to evaluate quantity, price, quality and service factors to determine quality and suitability of products and services.

Ability to operate a forklift.

Ability to maintain attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to be courteous and tactful in a variety of demanding and difficult situations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts and to communicate tactfully and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.

Physically be able to lift items, move and store items normally associated with a municipal stores operation.
Salary: $31.28 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.
Additional Information: This full-time position works a 4 day week, Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
