Job Description: The District of Mission is looking for 2 energetic and motivated students for a 4 to 5 month assignment. You will perform a variety of tasks related to customer service and outreach regarding water conservation and recycling regulations and related bylaws.
Duties: Some of the specific duties include promoting and providing information on water conservation and recycling initiatives; conducting sprinkler patrols and curbside recycling inspections; preparing and maintaining reports, records and correspondence; attending and representing the District at public events to promote and provide education on the water system, water conservation and recycling; conducting research and analyzing consumption data and findings; and providing general support to Engineering & Public Works.
Educational Requirements: Ideally you will have 2nd or 3rd year academic knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental studies and you are intending to return to school in the next academic year.
Skill Requirements: You will use your abilities and skill to compile and record data, and to research and analyze various factors relative to assigned projects to prepare non-complex research reports. You will have excellent customer relations skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to prepare and deliver presentations to public groups. This position also requires proficiency in computer skills and a valid Class 5 BC driver???s license.
Salary: The hourly rate for this CUPE Student Employee position is $20.03 per hour plus 12.4% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, other paid leaves, fringe benefits and premiums.
Additional Information: The opportunity will commence the beginning of May until the end of September 2018. The hours of work will be 7 hours per day, 5 days per week, with some early morning, evening and weekend shifts. Part-time hours will be available in September depending on your school schedule and availability.
