Job Description: The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) is comprised of six member municipalities and eight Electoral Areas, each containing numerous unique communities, cultures and landscapes. The FVRD covers roughly 13,900 square kilometers, equal to more than twice the size of Prince Edward Island.

The Parks Department is responsible for operations and maintenance of 10 regional parks, 3 regional trails, and a number of community parks and trails in the Fraser Valley which sees over 1,000,000 visitations annually.
Duties: We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, independent individual to fill the full-time position of Park Technician. Under the direction of the Manager of Park Operations, the incumbent will contribute to resource conversation management and the efficient operation of regional parks by providing assistance and support to Park Assistants, contractors and volunteers in the field; inspecting parks, facilities and services; implementing effective preventative maintenance programs; and participation and evaluation in planning of new and future parks.
Educational Requirements: ??? Post-secondary two-year Technician???s Diploma in fish, wildlife and recreation or related discipline plus minimum two years??? experience in the field; or equivalent combination of education/experience;
Skill Requirements: ??? Knowledge of the vegetation and wildlife of the Fraser Valley, and local community interest groups and their respective issues;
??? Strong written and verbal communication skills which include the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly, and write in a clear and concise manner;
??? Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the organization;
??? Ability to work independently and solve problems quickly by responding appropriately;
??? Must possess a valid Driver???s Licence.
Salary: The wage rate for this bargaining unit position is $25.80 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package. Upon successful completion of the required six month probationary period, the wage rate will increase to $30.35 per hour.
