The City of Abbotsford currently has an exciting auxiliary opportunity for a Development Technologist I in the Planning and Development Services Department. This auxiliary position is for approximately five months and provides additional support to the Development Engineering team.
This technical and administrative engineering work carries out and assists staff with administering assigned development projects, outlines engineering requirements, and reviews designs and plans for municipal services. The successful candidate will play a crucial role within the Planning and Development team to conduct periodic site inspections of properties, maintain, liaison with, and provide direction to, a wide variety of internal and external contacts and preparing and maintaining a variety of records, reports, correspondence and documents related to the work.
If you are a self-starter with demonstrated knowledge of municipal engineering and planning principals, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and with clients, we’d like to hear from you!
To be considered for this position, you must have:
• Completion of Grade 12;
• A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent related diploma/ degree from a recognized educational institute;
• A minimum of six (6) months related experience in a civil engineering environment;
• A valid BC Driver’s License; and
• Eligibility for membership in the Association of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C. preferred (Graduate Technologist/Technician or Associate Membership acceptable).
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $32.12 to $37.78 per hour (2017 rate) plus an additional 12% in lieu of statutory holidays, vacation, sick leave and extended health plans.
