Job Description: Employees in this perform a variety of clerical and customer service functions, for the purpose of providing relief coverage for an absent employee or to augment clerical and/or administrative staff temporarily.
Duties: Provide reception duties for the relevant department and answer incoming calls.

Respond to general public and staff information inquiries on matters related to the department, re-directing more complex inquiries to the appropriate staff as necessary.

Receive and process payments that are relevant to the department.

Receive and process basic and/or routine applications on a preliminary basis.

Prepare a variety of word processing documents, forms, tables, spreadsheets and other documents.

File and retrieve related documents as required.

Provide clerical support for the department.

Schedule appointments.

Maintain an up to date level of knowledge of the programs and services offered by the department.

Perform the basic duties of the position being covered
Educational Requirements: High school graduation or equivalent, supplemented by courses in administrative skills.

Minimum of one year experience in a demanding multi-tasking office environment, providing customer service and clerical support.

Training in a variety of current computer applications including a Windows-type environment, word processing, spreadsheets and other applicable municipal applications,
Skill Requirements: Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, including telephone etiquette.

General knowledge of District of Mission departments and their associated functions and responsibilities.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and to communicate effectively.

Ability to be calm, courteous and tactful in a variety of difficult situations.

Ability to accurately process cash and other payments and maintain related records.

Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new computer applications, and to operate a variety of office equipment.

Ability to type 60 WPM
Salary: $24.77 to $30.36 per hour plus 4.4% in lieu of benefits.
Additional Information: Selected candidates will undergo testing.
