The City of Abbotsford???s Planning & Development Services department is looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to join their dynamic team as an Assistant Planner. Reporting to the Director, Community Planning, you will be responsible for planning work at the professional level involving assisting with research, analysis and preparing reports on a wide range of planning issues.

As the successful candidate you will bring considerable knowledge of the City???s zoning regulations and practices and applicable government legislation as it applies to zoning and planning regulations. Your exceptional relationship building and communication skills will be beneficial as you liaise with stakeholders, providing information to the development community, public and other customers on matters relating to the City???s bylaws, Official Community Plan, and issues impacting land development matters and other regulations. Your attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills along with your knowledge of economics and standard statistical techniques and research methods as applied to urban and regional planning at the municipal and regional level will make you an asset to the team.

In order to be considered for this position you must have:
??? University Degree in community planning or a related discipline
??? A minimum of 2 years extensive experience in comprehensive planning and development control
??? Membership or ability to obtain membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners
??? Valid BC Driver???s Licence.

This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $34.54 to $40.62 per hour (2015 rates).
