The City of Abbotsford is currently offering an exciting opportunity as a Bylaw Clerk in our Bylaw Enforcement Division. This assignment is full-time on a temporary basis until return of incumbent; approximately 12 months.
As the successful applicant you will promote a positive and welcoming environment to all customers and provide a variety of office support services for the Bylaw Enforcement Division, including responding to public and staff inquiries while exercising courtesy and diplomacy. Therefore, good knowledge of the applicable rules, regulations, policies and practices which govern departmental activities is essential in this position. Additional responsibilities include preparing correspondence and reports; receiving and logging complaints; creating and maintaining a variety of records, forms, tables, spreadsheets and manuals, and processes various departmental documents within established guidelines.
Your thorough knowledge of office practice and procedures, business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic along with proficiency with a variety of current computer applications including word processing and excel spreadsheets will make you an asset to the team. Excellent communication and customer service skills and your ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with staff, elected officials and the public will guide your success in this position.
As our ideal candidate you will have:
• Grade 12 education including bookkeeping and computer software courses(word processing and spreadsheet applications).
• A minimum of one year of clerical and customer service experience including processing complaints and explaining procedures and guidelines in regard to the processing of applications, documents and bylaws related to a local government administration environment.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $20.84 per hour to $24.51 per hour (2015 rate).
