Job Description: Are you ready to apply your building construction expertise and building code knowledge in a way that contributes to quality buildings and construction? Are you prepared to broaden your knowledge and involvement in all aspects of the building inspection process? If so, this may be the job for you!

The Development Services Department is looking for experienced and customer service focused individuals to join the building inspection team on a full-time basis. As a member of the team, you will review building and construction plans, issue building permits and perform on-site building inspections.
Duties: Under the supervision and direction of the Building Inspection Supervisor, you will ensure that design and materials used during the construction, renovation and alteration of buildings within the Community are compliant with the provisions set out in the BC Building Code, specifically Part 9, BC Plumbing Code, Mission???s Zoning Bylaw, other municipal bylaws, policies and procedures.
Educational Requirements: You will have completed grade 12 and possess a Diploma in Building Technology from a recognized technical institute or you will have experience at the journeyman level in one of the building trades. You will be a BOABC Member. Candidates with Plumbing Level One (1) Certification is a definite asset. A valid Class 5 BC driver???s license and a clean driving record are also required.
Skill Requirements: We are looking for individuals with a keen ability for critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and focus on high quality outputs and results. With a confident and composed demeanor in all work situations, you will have the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a broad variety of stakeholders.
Salary: The current hourly wage range has been increased and is $45.49 to $50.31 commensurate with the level of BOABC certification achieved, plus a comprehensive benefit package including the Municipal Pension Plan and a commitment to ongoing training and career development. The building inspectors will work 72 hours bi-weekly on a 4-day work week (9-hour shifts).
Additional Information: A valid Class 5 BC driver???s license and a clean driving record are also required.
