||Surrey’s Urban Forestry section offers nature-based programs and events for the public with the goal of increasing awareness, appreciation and stewardship of Surrey’s urban forest. Programming takes place at the Surrey Nature Centre, and at parks and other locations throughout the City.
||As a Surrey Nature Centre Assistant you will lead:
o School field trip programs;
o Programs for preschool, children, and family audiences;
o Activities at special events.
As an Environmental Stewardship Assistant you will lead:
o Interpretive walks;
o Outreach activities,
o Hands-on stewardship activities in parks throughout the City of Surrey.
Both positions may also assist with planning and delivering special events and provide administrative support for a variety of educational initiatives and volunteer programs
||o Completed grade 12;
o Supplemented by one year of related work experience, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience;
o Current Occupational First Aid level one (or acceptable equivalent);
o A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a safe driving history.
||Successful candidates will have:
o A creative and enthusiastic approach to their work, and a positive attitude;
o Have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
o The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team;
o Working knowledge of local flora and fauna, and a passion to share this knowledge with others.
