The City of Abbotsford is offering an exciting opportunity in our Parks, Recreation & Culture Department for a dynamic, self-motivated professional with proven skills, energy and leadership of a Fitness Programmer. In this challenging role you are responsible for developing, promoting, leading, supervising and evaluating a wide variety of fitness instruction and wellness programs and events. The scope of this part time position includes selecting, leading, training, mentoring and evaluating a large team of fitness and wellness staff.
Excellent communication, organizational, administrative and problem solving skills, combined with a strong commitment to customer service excellence as well as relevant leadership, fitness supervisory experience and a strong background knowledge of fitness equipment are essential.
Your education includes a diploma in a recreation related discipline and the BCRPA Supervisor of Fitness Leaders (SFL) award, plus a minimum 2 years’ experience in a fitness environment including supervision, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
In addition the following certifications are required:
• BCRPA Certified Personal Trainer
• BCRPA Certified Fitness Leader, minimum of 2 areas i.e. Group Fitness, Aquatics
• BCRPA Certified Weight Training Leader
• BCRPA Supervisor of Fitness Leaders
• Current Standard First Aid Certification
• Current CPR Level C Certification
• Valid BC Driver’s License
Please note this part-time schedule includes evening and weekend shifts. This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $25.95 to $30.53 per hour (2015 rate).
