The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist III to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Utilities Operations Department.

Reporting to the Utilities Operations Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for coordinating maintenance programs, completing detailed engineering design, cost estimation, contract documentation, field inspection and contract administration for various capital, operational, construction and installation projects; participating in RFP preparation, and the review and selection of consultants; attending project meetings; assisting in the preparation of terms of reference, reports, contracts and annual budgets; as well as evaluating and selecting construction materials and components. You will liaise between third party approving agencies, engineering, environmental and/or construction firms and user departments to ensure desired results; prepare schedules; attend project meetings as resource person or project lead; review plans and working drawings at various stages for conformance to project guidelines and established standards; and monitor work progress. You will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining a variety of materials such as records, technical and status reports, correspondence and project specifications; performing design and layout work for minor capital projects; reviewing all invoices, change orders and other payment claims for accuracy, recommending approval or investigates discrepancies. You will be responsible for data collection, confirmation, organization, interpretation and reporting related to the Tangible Capital Assets reporting, Infrastructure Asset Management, and for the Benchmarking initiative in the Sanitary Sewer and Waterworks area. You will plan, assign and supervise the work of one or more technical subordinates.

Graduation from an Institute of Technology with Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma or other related discipline, including or supplemented by courses in project management, and considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Previous work experience in a municipal environment is an asset. The successful candidate will be an energetic and enthusiastic individual who is well organized and able to communicate effectively with the community, consultants, and contractors. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, terminology, practices and techniques; knowledge of the zoning and related municipal legislation governing the work performed, as well as be familiar with a variety of engineering software packages, databases, and utilities applications.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $36.91 - $43.62 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
