Economic Development Municipality: City of Surrey This posting closed on May 17, 2017 at 4:30 PM Job Description: The City of Surrey???s Investment and Intergovernmental Relations Department is seeking a dynamic and creative economic development professional to support the City???s rapid economic growth and execution of the City???s upcoming economic strategy. The Business Relationship Specialist reports to the Manager of Economic Development and is responsible for the delivery and execution of a number of programs that positions Surrey as a business friendly community. Responsibilities of the Business Relationship Specialist include: Business Outreach Program ??? Lead the execution of the City???s business outreach program and maintaining a strong relationship with local companies ??? Help local businesses access government services and programs at the municipal, provincial, and federal level ??? Measure the impact of the program and support continuous improvement of the business outreach program Building Strong Industries and Business Communities in Surrey ??? Support the development of new programs that will lead to increased business vibrancy across the City ??? Promote local investment opportunities and help identify commercial and industrial land opportunities and support investor decision making in Surrey ??? Facilitate new private sector partnerships and investment opportunities throughout the community Sector Development ??? Researching, developing and implementing innovative sector related programs and initiatives related to business attraction, retention and growth to ensure Surrey is recognized as the premier location in Western Canada for business investment and innovation ??? Support the execution of sector development programming and other initiatives as required Strategic Economic Development Support ??? Undertake analysis and evaluation of economic and business development opportunities and identify strategies to develop these opportunities. ??? Account manage prospective in-bound investors and businesses looking to relocate to Surrey ??? Support grant-writing and proposal development to advance economic development strategic initiatives The successful candidate will bring to the Economic Development Division the following: ??? A Bachelors degree in Commerce or Business Administration supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years of current experience in business development, OR an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience ??? Program management and technical sales experience would be an asset ??? Excellent written and verbal communication skills ??? Ability to manage a complex workload in a fast pace environment with multiple initiatives ??? Desire to take responsibility for individual contribution to team projects ??? Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality deliverables ??? Professional and enthusiastic attitude coupled with strong business acumen ???
