The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Wastewater Collection Systems Operator I to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Utilities Operations Department.

Reporting to the Utility Operations Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for skilled mechanical work involving the installation, adjustment, inspection, repair and maintenance of lift station and force main equipment. You will perform regular inspectional duties at municipal wastewater pumping stations, responding to pump station alarms and emergency repair calls; investigating main blockages, overflowing manholes, sanitary sewer connection problems and other situations. In this position, you may be required to provide work direction to one or more semi-skilled employees.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work and sound experience in wastewater systems and pumping equipment repair work or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Excellent customer service skills as well as a strong record in safety and municipal plan reading are essential to perform this work successfully.

• BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $32.35 per hour (2015 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday - Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.
