Job Description:
Under general supervision of the City of Surrey’s Economic Development Division, the Event Coordinator Co-op Student will assist in planning, organizing and communicating through a variety of social media channels for the 2017 Greater Vancouver Clean Technology Expo & Championship as well as a planned Invest Surrey Opportunities Summit.
Duties:
The Event Coordinator Coop Student will be responsible for:

● Updating communication on a variety of social media platforms
● Updating the maintaining the event participants’ database
● Assisting in the developing of communications strategies and programs to inform the public and event participants of the Clean Technology Expo & Championship and the Invest Surrey Summit
● Gathering, researching and preparing communications material for internal and external audiences
● Assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, websites and media releases
● Assisting in the coordination of the Clean Technology Expo & Championship and Invest Surrey Summit
● Assisting the preparation of brochures, reports, newsletters and other material
● Assisting the planning, coordination, and communication of future events
Educational Requirements: The successful candidate will have the following:

● Currently enrolled in a related communications or business marketing degree or diploma program from a recognized post-secondary institution
● A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
● The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally
● Effective time management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines
● Knowledge of social media and best practices regarding usage
● The ability to build and maintain strong relations with both internal and external customers
● Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills to maintain effective working relationships with event staff
● The ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Salary: This is a 4 month Coop/Student opportunity.
