We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated professional to join our team as Payroll Supervisor for the Finance and Corporate Services Department. In this highly confidential and specialized role, you will be responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely planning and processing of City payrolls while supervising the activities of the payroll team.

As the City???s payroll subject matter expert, with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, you will be the main point of contact for the payroll department. You will have an extensive and current working knowledge of Federal and Provincial Legislation related to wage and salary administration, allowing you to review and analyze payroll policies, processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvement. Additional responsibilities include providing training for time entry clerks and payroll staff, testing and implementing system upgrades, preparing reports, summaries and records related to payroll matters as well as periodic and year-end activities.

Your proven skills, knowledge and abilities as a payroll professional, along with your experience in a complex unionized environment will make you an asset to the team. Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking and time management skills will be essential in this position. Your leadership skills and supervision experience will allow you to effectively coordinate, assign and review the work of the payroll team. Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices, along with a demonstrated ability to interpret regulations, bylaws, contracts, agreements policies and procedures will guide your success in this position.

As the Payroll Supervisor you will have:

??? Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
??? Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification with the Canadian Payroll Association.
??? 5 years??? recent related experience, including two years??? experience in a supervisory capacity, in a complex, high volume, computerized payroll environment using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Experience with SAP, and in a multi-union environment is preferred.
??? Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, computerized payroll accounting, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and time capture systems.
