The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for an auxiliary Recreation Leader to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Division; Recreation Facilities and Programs Department. You will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting a supervisor in planning, developing, and scheduling specific recreation programs, services and special events; directing the implementation of program activities; providing leadership and instruction; assessing program results and recommending changes as necessary. You will also be responsible for assigning and supervising the work of auxiliary staff; providing orientation and training; and participating in the selection and evaluation of staff. Your education will include completion of a two year program in Recreation at a recognized Community College and some related community recreation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the recreational needs and interests of the area served, and sound knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community recreation programs. This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal record check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment). A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside and a valid Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate is required. A High Five Certificate, Fundamental Movement Skills Certificate and experience working in a community recreation centre would be assets. A current Driver???s Abstract that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete.
